WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

“Without them, Domaine de Christin would not exist.”

At the beginning, there was a simple, undeniable need: to give our horses the space and the nature they deserved. We needed meadows, open land, room to breathe. The estate offered itself naturally. Everything else followed.

Before it became a place for weddings, seminars and celebrations, Domaine de Christin was — and still is — a working agricultural estate. A place designed for living things, shaped by time, respect and daily commitment.

When Éric and Hélène Buray first discovered it in the early 2010s, the domain was falling into disuse. Its soul, however, was entirely intact. Since the end of 2014, a quiet but profound renaissance has been underway — driven by a shared passion for nature, heritage and the idea that a place should feel, above all, like itself.

EIGHT CENTURIES IN THE STONE

The story of Domaine de Christin begins in the late 12th century. A fortified farmhouse with a viticultural vocation, the estate still bears the visible marks of its agricultural and defensive past. The year “1189” is carved into the stone. Medieval bottle shards are set into the tops of the walls. A former pigeon loft still serves as the estate’s water tower.

Walk through the grounds and you will find ribbed vaults, keystones, flying buttresses and ancient stone troughs — each element a chapter in a story that has unfolded across eight centuries of seasons, uses and hands.

The Mas Médiéval, the ancient heart of the original farmhouse, now forms the centrepiece of the estate’s accommodation. Its stones have been carefully preserved and brought back into use, not as a museum, but as a living, breathing part of daily life here.

An open-air ceremony for 400 on the Esplanade. An intimate exchange of vows beneath the vaulted arches of the Cuverie. Or something in between — the estate offers nine distinct ceremony spaces, bookable to match the season, the scale and the style of your day.

The Villas
