Shire horse breeding at Domain of Christin
Eleveur professionnel depuis 2007 de chevaux de trait de race anglaise « SHIRE », Eric BURAY et son équipe vous feront Professional breeder since 2007 of English « SHIRE » draft horses, Eric BURAY and his team will introduce you to their « Gentle Giants » usually used for horse-drawn traction and transport.
Of exceptional size and strength, the growth of the foals finishes at the age of 7 years.
The SHIRE is the largest of the horse breeds in the world, as well as the strongest horse breed. There are only a few subjects in France !
The « Shire Horse Show » in Peterborough in England brings together a few hundred specimens of the 2,500 subjects registered in the stud-book, mainly in Great Britain and the United States.
If you want to get to know this breathtaking breed up close, without having to go to England, contact us to participate in a session at our Educational Farm !
Several grape varieties make up the 18 hectares of the Domain of Christin vineyard : syrah, grenache, merlot, mourvedre, nielluccho, carignan, vermentino, viognier and cinsaul.
Young plants and old vines constitute the various plots undergoing restructuring.
The vines follow the rhythm of the seasons : there is a lot of work, from pruning in winter to harvest in September.
If you are interested in the internships of viticulture and this profession which works as close as possible to the cycles of nature, contact us to participate in a session at our educational farm!
Olive groves for the production of extra virgin olive oil
The variety cultivated on the olive groves of the Domain of Christin is Picholine, a variety native to Gard.
Picholine is used as a green table or cocktail olive (harvest in september), it is also used to make olive oil (harvest in december – january) : fruity and green, this oil has a very slight bitterness.
Even more than organic, our small production of extra virgin olive oil is sold directly to the Domain of Christin, in a 50cl bottle ready to offer or to offer yourself, while stocks last.

The prairies fields
The many fallow plots (vines torn up in the past) of the Domain of Christin from 2014 were cleaned, worked and sown to allow the production of quality grass.
The meadows are thus grazed by our horses, and the surplus is transformed into hay at the end of spring, in order to be able to feed the animals of the Domain in winter.
